Sleep on your back
I know itʼs not fun to learn to sleep in a new position. Iʼm a stomach/side sleeper, so learning to sleep on my back was a huge challenge. Once I learned how my nightly face-plant onto the pillow was taking its toll on my skin, I had to make change. Not only can sleeping with your face on your pillow cause more fine lines and wrinkles, it also allows pore-clogging oils to get a little too much quality time with your skin and cause breakouts. Bleh. Keep it clean, and let gravity do its job by learning to sleep on your back. Your face (and neck and chest!) will thank you.
Repeat after me: do. not. touch. your. face. Repeat it again. And again. I read this in Seventeen magazine million years ago, and I swear it works!! Those who have a tendency to pick at any imperfections, think about it: Do you have any idea how gross your hands are? Youʼre only going to exacerbate most skincare issues (especially acne!) issue by adding more bacteria to the mix.
Donʼt wash your face every day
Whaaat?? I know it sounds crazy. But listen… over-cleansing is stripping your skin of its natural oils. Iʼm not suggesting you go to bed wearing makeup, but on the days that you donʼt wear makeup? Maybe skip wash or (gasp!!!) two. Bonus tip – when you go to jump back into your regimen after taking – little break, start with a gentle exfoliating scrub. Youʼll be surprised at how giving your skin a rest (followed by one of the most important steps to gorgeous skin: exfoliation!) will give you a better glow than any lotions or potions on the market!
