Hi!! I’m Sarah, the creator of A Space for Style. I’m also a wife, boy mom, former finance executive-turned-entrepreneur, mentor, mimosa enthusiast, and lover of all stylish things.
I was sitting in my usual nail salon, trying to stay awake during the hand massage portion of my OPI ‘Taupe-less Beach’ gel manicure when I heard a voice next to me frantically asking, “Which color would be best for a beach vacation? We’re leaving for a family trip right after this.” I looked over to see a cute-but-frazzled thirty-something busy mama I’d never met before – hurrying her manicurist through any and all ‘pampering.’ She had already told her not to worry about the massage – after all, she was short on time. ; ) I immediately suggested OPI ‘Funny Bunny’ (because that IS the best color for a beach vacation. Duh.).
The manicurist looked at me like perhaps I’d taken in too many of the nail polish fumes. (Maybe I had??). Then she says “Oh! You two must be friends…?” to which Busy Mama and I both shook our heads no. “She asked which was best, I was letting her know,” I informed the manicurist. Busy Mama (my new bff) smiled a relieved smile at me and said, “That color is perfect. You have no idea how much that helps – I know it sounds crazy but I HATE making these decisions!”
We promptly ordered mimosas (limit one per customer), and I watched the tension drain from her shoulders while we chatted and got to know each other a bit. She even allowed herself 3 minutes for the massage, after all.
It made my heart so happy to see Busy Mama relax and enjoy herself, even if just for a moment. She had help with a decision (however frivolous of a decision it seemed) by someone who knew what she was looking for, and that allowed her to take a moment and just…. LIVE.
Don’t we ALL need that sometimes? A friendly hand to guide us through the not-mission-critical-but-still-important-to-how-we-feel-about-ourselves decisions we make?
As I thought about Busy Mama over the next few months, I took note of all the Busy Mamas I was actually helping…
-A friend texting different photos of haircuts/colors to me with a text saying “squeezing in a hair cut today between the kids’ school pickups.. which one should I go with??”
-Another friend sending me photos of her living room to ask which kind of rug would work best.
-Another friend asking if she should wear a bold red lip or smoky eye to an important charity gala she was attending.
That’s when it clicked with me that not only do I love helping people look and feel their best… its something I was blessed with the skills to do. Helping them decide what to wear or how to decorate… Even helping them with what to pack… I’m truly at my best when I’m helping my friends be at THEIR best. When I think back: on some level, I’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember. Always making recommendations on what works (ahem: even to complete strangers. I mean who DOESN’T love unsolicited advice?? Ha!), sharing products or ideas, and chatting with any and everyone who wants to talk fashion, home design, beauty, or traveling in style!
I knew I had to put this concept out there to share with everyone. After all, if this many people I KNOW are looking for exactly this type of thing… how many people out there that I haven’t even met are looking for it, too?

Reading is my escape. It’s how I unplug from the world, recharge my batteries, feed my brain, and fuel my creativity. I’m not much of a television-watcher (aside from the occasional movie), and I get completely sick of my phone being a permanent extension of my hand. I think it’s important to decompress and forget the world for a moment, and I retreat into my favorite books for that much-needed break.
